I am a sex-positive, integrative therapist using different elements of intervention to best meet your needs. Working as a team, you are the expert on you, I simply help you see things already there. I approach the work of therapy using acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), a scientifically-validated treatment that puts your values at the centre of therapy. This ACT approach is supported and informed by my professional training in evidence-based sexology, psychosexual psychotherapy, Trauma-Focused ACT (TFACT), Focused ACT for Brief Interventions (FACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS-Informed). **EMDR training commencing January 2024**
Trauma-focused ACT (TFACT) is a compassion-based, exposure-centered approach to doing ACT, which is trauma-informed: drawing on relevant fields, such as evolutionary science, polyvagal theory, attachment theory, and inhibitory learning theory; trauma-aware: attuned to the possible role of trauma in a wide range of clinical issues; and trauma-sensitive: alert to the risks of experiential work, especially mindfulness meditation. **Commencing** Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy with Prof Paul W Miller, Mirabilis Health Institute Jan 2024.
Our work together is guided by the six sexual health principles* of: Consent - the right to give & take away at anytime for any reason; Non-exploitation - living free from power & control of others; Protection - balancing pleasure & safety; Shared Values - knowing yours & respecting others; Honesty - as a choice; & Pleasure - individualised & important to communicate (*Braun-Harvey & Vigorito).
If you have questions, or would like to set up a free 15 minute consultation, please contact me by email. This allows you to share a little about what you are hoping to get from therapy, and to check that my skill set is right for you. Confidential enquiries do not commit us to working together.
I believe that sexual health is a basic fundamental right, and that the ‘price of admission’ should not be a barrier to therapy. My rate reflects my personal and professional ethics to offer accessible therapy, and honest discussions about sexual health, self-identity & well-being. Please read full T&Cs | GDPR Statement below, as these form the therapeutic contract.
